A08 MATERIAL UPDATE

Note
Before proceeding.. If you have added materials to the RCS database that cannot be found within the ASME Electronic Stress Tables, C-Stl., etc., copy \rcswin\mt\mtall.07 to \rcswin\mt\mtall.a08 and these materials will be retained.

To update MTALL.A08 using MTALL.07 material list...

From the RCSWin main window, select Tools->Administrative-Material Update

1. Click on [Mtall_to_Mergemt] and make settings in menu. This will create for example, MERGEMT.A08 from MTALL.07

2. Click on [MERGEMT] and make settings in menu. This will create for example, MTALL.A08 from MERGEMT.A08 using \RCSWin\MT\A08\*.csv files. \RCSWin\MT\dump1 will open in the default editor after MTALL.A08 has been built. (This may take a few minutes) Please print this file for your reference. This file will show all materials that did not load. These materials did not load because header data changed in a material and the system was not able to load. Run material setup (Tools->Setup->Materials...) and load these materials manually. Verify these materials because some of them may exist due to an RCS update to .A08 material file. You can check a material by typing the RCS material number at RCS Material Data Block, i.e. Type 102 <ENTER> and this will bring up the material if it is in the A08 database.

SUMMARY OF CHANGES AND UPDATES (01.01.09)

( 1) Pass plate calculations :

If stress is zero, program jumps out.

( 2) Flange program :

Added Change Code [151].

This change code sets calculations to full bolt load.

W = Ab * Sa

( 3) Floating head program :

Added Change Code [132].

This change code sets calculations to full bolt load.

W = Ab * Sa

( 4) UHX tubesheet program :

(a) Major changes :

1. Calculate Minimum and maximum stresses on tubes.

2. Calculate axial membrane stress for shell.Includes thickened section at tubesheet.

3. Calculate compressive stress on shell.Includes thickened section at tubesheet.

4. Calculate the minimum and maximum values forFt,min and Ft,max, used with tube stresses.

5. Calculate functions Zw, Ft,min and Ft,max.

6. From job file, now Loads in shell efficiency now usedby UHX for shell tension and compressive stress.

7. Added input for efficiency of thickened shell sectionat tubesheet per UHX-13.6.

(b) From [Tools], [Administrative], (A08 or 07 UHX Version), youcan switch system to run UHX for different versions.

Note: If you are net-worked, then current version is versionall users will be running.

(c) UHX now will detect if tubes are seamless or welded.

If tubes are welded, then program gives you the option touse seamless or welded stress, St=St/0.85 or St=St/1.0.

( 5) Tbc Graphics :

Changes to center baffle of double seg. cut for percent Dia.

( 6) Changes to Internal 3-D module.

( 7) Information :

Windows XP, as compared to other versions of Windows, exhibits slight differences when dealing with window relationships (foreground/background position) in some multi-executable type applications like the RCS system. On certain occasions a window (menu) in RCS can become 'hidden' and the program may appear to be 'locked'. RCS is aware of this behavior and currently working to provide a solution. Meanwhile, you can 'unlock' the program by restoring the 'hidden' window (menu) to the foreground process by using one of the following key combinations..

(a) Alt + Tab, Switches between active programs.
(b) Windows + D, Minimize/Restore all windows.

SUMMARY OF CHANGES AND UPDATES (05.06.09)

( 1) Corrected Version.txt

This file is necessary to indicate the correct current version of RCS installed. This version description is specified within the About RCS.. dialog box located in the main window menu. Help->About RCS...

( 2) Baffle drawing

Corrected center lines in Baffle drawing when viewed from #19 tubesheet.

( 3) UHX tubesheet program

(a) Added tube joint load calculations. Program has option of welded tubes per UW-20 and
welded/rolled per Appendix A-1.

(b) Corrected metric conversion for Poissons ratio in case menus.

(c) Corrected calculation for Ft_min per Table UHX-13.2.

( 4) Windows Vista update

Renamed program filenames that have dispensable security implications when running RCS on the Windows Vista operating system.
